Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder following an attack in Penzance.Police were alerted at around 5:50pm on Sunday 26th March after a man was attacked in Adelaide Street.
It is believed that the victim, a local 35-year-old man was attacked by four men armed with knives, baseball bats and a crowbar. The suspects then subsequently fled the area in a silver Mazda caravan following the attack.
Police soon located the vehicle believed to have been used by one of the attackers, and an arrest was made at an address in Goldsithney, Penzance that evening. A 58-year-old man is currently in police custody on suspicion of attempted murder and awaits questioning.
The victim received a number of stab wounds to his legs and torso and blows to the head during the attack. He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition, his injuries are now no longer thought to be life threatening.
Police are undertaking house to house enquiries but are appealing for witnesses. Anyone who witnessed the attack, or who saw a silver Mazda caravan either prior or post attack in Adelaide Street is asked to contact the police.
