Thieves have caused extensive damage to a Porthleven Jewellery Workshop overnight in what police are describing as a “possible ram raid”.
Police received the call just before 3am this morning about an incident at the gallery in St Elvans Courtyard, Porthleven. On arrival Police found significant damage to shop front.
Two people were thought to have been involved who left in a grey-ish estate car, which is believed to have been used in the incident. The car headed in a Penzance direction. A car matching the description was later located in the Sithney area, which is where police believe the car was dumped and then the suspects possibly got into another vehicle.
Police searched various locations in an attempt to locate the suspects without success.
A police investigation is now underway where a forensic examination at the scene will be carried out and various enquiries will take place. It is not clear at this time what items were taken in the burglary.
This morning Porthleven residents have said they are shocked and saddened that such a crime could happen in their village and several were helping the clean up.
