CORNWALL PRIDE : All you need to know about 10th anniversary celebrations

This year Cornwall Pride celebrates its 10th anniversary with a move to Newquay. While retaining its traditional format of a parade, a family afternoon event and an evening party it’s planned to make them bigger and better than before.
This year’s headliners are UNION J the biggest act ever booked forCornwall Pride with support from Martyn Lucas – “The World” Piano Man”, a great KYLIE tribute act, all hosted by the fabulous Vicky Vivacious
Meanwhile, leading up to the big day, Cornwall Council is celebrating Cornwall’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) communities (lesbian, kethreydhel, dewreydhel, treus (LKDT)) by flying the Rainbow flag at County Hall this week.

    Representatives from the Council will join the parade, starting at 12noon from Beach Road car park, and will be at The Killacourt for the family friendly Rainbow Fest in the afternoon.

    The Council’s Registration Service will also be on hand advising on licensed venues and support anyone who may be planning a marriage or civil ceremony in stunning Cornwall.

    The Corporate Equality and Diversity Team will be there to talk about the ‘We Say No to Hate Crime’ campaign; #proud to be Cornish /#Prout dhe vos Kernewek and the LGBTQ+ Forum for Public Sector employees in Cornwall.  They will also be showcasing some young people’s work on ‘Coming Out’.

     

    Julian German, Deputy Leader of Cornwall Council with responsibility for equality and diversity said “By taking an active role in the Pride event, we are proud to show our commitment to supporting diversity and improving inclusion within Cornwall.  We want to set an example in all we do to support the whole community. Pride is a great event and I hope that everyone enjoys themselves!”

    The parade is a colourful and vibrant event, planned to flow through the streets of Newquay, standing tall and standing proud. There are floats, walking bands, dance groups, organisations and charities.

    Departs Beach Road Car Park at midday (12PM).  If you are in the parade, it is advisable to arrive from 11am to make sure everything is in place ready for the parade to start at midday.

    Rainbow Fest

    Rainbow Fest is the afternoon event. Held at the famous ‘Killacourt’ in Newquay, it is a free event.

    It is a family friendly event with lots to see and do. There are stalls from organisations and groups within Cornwall and the UK offering advice and support as well as fun games to play, face painting and a whole lot more. There is a range of hot and cold food available as well as things to buy.

    Rainbow Fest benefits from an open space and well-kept gardens so you can sit down and enjoy the live music in a safe friendly space.

    Live entertainment from local and national acts will be on hand to delight everyone, and help to make a really relaxing safe place to relax with friends and family.

    Rainbow Fest is also pleased to be able to provide a licensed bar area too!

Moonbow Party

The Moonbow Party is a fantastic event, with lots of live music and entertainment guaranteed to keep you strutting your stuff.

The party is a ‘ticket only’ event. Tickets are available throughout the year leading up to Pride as well as on the door. Make sure you have yours before they sell out!!

The Party has a licensed bar and is strictly a over 18’s event. Proof of age may be required before entry

Hosted at Tall Trees in Newquay, Moonbow Party promises to be an inclusive and exciting night where you can let your hair down and party through the evening and into the night.

Doors open from 8pm and the fun will continue until 2am!
