A major Search and Rescue operation continues this morning after two men were swept off rocks at Treyarnon Bay, near Padstow, whilst fishing.
The alert was sounded Monday afternoon but after initially rescuing one man after ‘minutes’ the search continued til dark for the second victim but to no avail. The operation was suspended overnight and resumed at 7am.
Police have now confirmed that a 21 year old has died after been found in the sea and airlifted to Treliske.
The Coastguard received a 999 call at 2.35pm to report that two men had been washed off the rocks into the sea and launched an intensive search for the second man involving the Coastguard helicopter, Coastguard rescue teams, lifeboats, lifeguards and Devon and Cornwall Police.
Padstow and Newquay Coastguard Rescue Teams, Padstow, Newquay and Rock RNLI Lifeboats, Treyarnon Lifeguards and the UK Coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Newquay attended, along with Devon and Cornwall Police and South Western Ambulance Service.
