One person remains in hospital after collision closes both carriages on A30

One man remains in hospital in a serious condition following a collision on the A30.

Police were call following a collision on the A30 Westbound off slip at Scorrier, Cornwall at approximately 5.40pm yesterday, Thursday 14 December,

The incident involved a Fiat Panda which left the road and resulted in the driver being trapped in his vehicle.

Emergency services attended and freed the driver who was airlifted to Derriford. A 59-year-old man from Camborne remains in hospital with life-changing injuries.

Officers from the Serious Collisions Unit are appealing for witnesses and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have dashcam footage that could assist with enquiries.

Cornwall Fire Sevice said “One appliance and the rescue tender from Tolvaddon were mobilised, on arrival at the scene there was found to be one vehicle involved and one person trapped, crews used crash rescue equipment to release the casualty to awaiting ambulance personnel who was then transferred to Treliske Hospital and then to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance, the A30 was closed in both directions to allow the helicopter to land
