By-election results: “We’re now the opposition to the Conservatives in Cornwall”

Labour increased their majority at all three counts.

Labour has won all three by-elections held in Cornwall yesterday. Jayne Kirkham has been elected to Cornwall Council for the Falmouth Smithick ward, Louise Colney elected to Falmouth Town Council for Smithick and Alana Bates won the vacant seat on Penzance Town Council in the Penzance East ward.

“We’re delighted” he said last night “These wins were all bigger than anyone expected. The three winning women were up against strong campaigns in both Falmouth and Penzance. The results prove that Labour is now the opposition to the Conservatives in Cornwall.”
