Published On: 19 March 2025Last Updated: 19 March 2025By

With the clocks set to spring forward on Sunday, 30th March, Britons are gearing up for longer, brighter evenings, and the demand for sunset-watching is surging. Over the past month, interest in ‘daylight savings 2025’ has skyrocketed by 1,000%, and TikTok searches for ‘sunsets over the sea’ have jumped by 505%*.

Cornwall, with its 300 miles of coastline, is at the heart of this growing trend. Parkdean Resorts has analysed TikTok videos and comments to uncover the best sunset hotspots in Cornwall this spring.

Cornwall’s Sunset Hotspots

Fistral Beach, Newquay

TikToker @RobynPoppy has showcased Fistral Beach’s breathtaking sunsets in a video that has gained over 184.8k views and 33.8k likes. Comments on the post include “Beautiful 😍” and “North coast sunsets always hit”.

Fistral Beach, located just five miles from Newquay Holiday Park, is already a favourite for surfers, and its stunning Atlantic Ocean views make it a prime location for sunset chasers this spring.

Holywell Bay, Newquay

Last year, photographer and TikTok user @JoelDoesPhotography posted a video highlighting Holywell Bay’s stunning sunset, attracting 15.3k views. One viewer commented, “Wow! This place is on my bucket list”.

Located six miles from Newquay, Holywell Bay is a hidden gem with rolling sand dunes and turquoise waters, creating the perfect setting for an unforgettable sunset experience.

Porthmeor Beach, St Ives

A video shared by Cornwall-based TikToker @BrittanyRosa_1 captures the golden hues of Porthmeor Beach’s sunset. One comment reads, “It’s the best, isn’t it”, while another describes it as “Home ❤️”.

Situated a short walk from St Ives town centre, Porthmeor Beach offers a front-row seat to some of Cornwall’s most breathtaking sunsets – often with surfers silhouetted against the glowing sky.

Watergate Bay, Newquay

TikToker @RobynPoppy also featured Watergate Bay, which sits close to Newquay Holiday Park. Known for its dramatic cliffs and vast sands, Watergate Bay’s west-facing location makes it a prime sunset spot.

Visitors can enjoy the view from the beach or the cliffs, offering different perspectives on the spectacular changing sky.

Kynance Cove, Lizard Peninsula

Nestled within the Lizard Peninsula, Kynance Cove is famous for its white sandy beaches and unique rock formations. A TikTok by @Srahman96 featuring a Kynance Cove sunset has amassed 275k views and 48k likes, with one user calling it “the prettiest place 🥺”.

With low light pollution, the sky above Kynance Cove transforms into a canvas of rich hues, making it an ideal secluded spot for sunset lovers.

Enjoy the scenic coastal walk from Lizard Point to Kynance Cove and catch one of the stunning sunsets. The beautifully landscaped Lizard Point Holiday Park is located in the heart of the Lizard Peninsula and is the perfect location for sunset spotting this spring.

Why Cornwall is Perfect for Sunset Watching

Travel experts at Parkdean Resorts explain why Cornwall offers some of the best sunset views in the UK:

  • Westernmost Region: Cornwall’s location gives it unrestricted ocean views of the setting sun.
  • Moist Atlantic Air: This creates vibrant reds, oranges, and purples through Rayleigh scattering.
  • Minimal Light Pollution: Clear skies enhance the deep, vivid colours of the sunset.
  • Crystal-Clear Waters: The Atlantic Ocean acts as a mirror, amplifying the colours of the sky.
