Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery Shortlisted for Museums Change Lives Award 2025
Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery has been shortlisted for a Museums Change Lives Award 2025, a national accolade recognising museums that are transforming lives and strengthening communities across the UK.
The awards, run by the Museums Association, celebrate organisations that go beyond collections to champion community work in creativity, inclusion, and wellbeing.
This shortlisting places Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery among the most innovative and impactful museums in the country.
A Museum at the Heart of the Community
Co-Director Bryony Robins said:
“We believe that museums have a vital role to play in community life. Here in Truro, we run a busy programme of activities – from Toddler Time for Under 5s, to creative sessions supporting people managing pain or at risk of isolation, a dementia group and young people’s programmes. We want the museum to be a welcoming space for all, and our team are passionate about creating a programme that make a real difference for the people of Cornwall.’’
Recognition for Early Bird Explorers
The museum has been recognised for its Early Bird Explorers Club, delivered in partnership with Healthy Cornwall, part of Cornwall Council’s Public Health and Wellbeing Service. Healthy Cornwall works to inspire and support the community to live healthier lives, including through healthy eating.
The free sessions offer families a nutritious meal, a fun activity, and the chance to explore the museum’s galleries and exhibitions.
Designed with families on low incomes in mind, the club provides vital nutritional support during school holidays when parents and carers can face additional pressures and financial challenges. It also creates a safe, welcoming space to connect, helping to reduce barriers to cultural experiences while building confidence, friendships, and lasting family memories.
Awards Ceremony
The winners of the Museums Change Lives Awards 2025 will be announced on Tuesday 7th October 2025 at St Fagans National Museum of History, Cardiff, during the Museums Association annual conference.
