DESCRIPTION:Join us for a 99p Films social cinema screening of the film ‘Power Station’. \nCan a whole street be powered by the sun?\nPower Station follows the story of two artists as they set out to take their street off-grid and kickstart a solar-powered energy revolution. \nThe idea began in the depths of lockdown with the question ‘what could we do from where we live\, with the people around us\, to build power – of energy and imagination?’ \nWorking to turn a street and local schools solar\, Power Station is a scalable\, in-your-face prototype of community led power. Channelling Withnail and I and Ealing comedies\, the film charts the financial and emotional trials and tribulations of making change together. \nFrom sleeping on rooftops to growing thousands of sunflowers and attempts at Christmas number one\, community spirit and resilience are at the heart of this documentary. \nProgramme for the evening: \n5:45pm – Doors open\n6pm – Communal Feast\n7pm – Social Cinema experience – We begin with a short mindful breathwork practice\, before screening the film\, and then opening up the room to an audience-led discussion. \nFeast: \nThe feast for this event will be sourced and prepared by talented chefs Kirsty Baker & Aaron Wright from Tiger Feet – the new independent Eco Park restaurant. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a 99p Films social cinema screening of ‘Beyond Bricks’\, the lastest documentary film by Cornwall Climate Care. \n“Housing is a basic human requirement – but the construction industry is one of the world’s biggest sources of climate emissions and landfill waste.” \nBeyond Bricks investigates the balancing act needed to create hundreds of thousands of new homes in the UK without worsening the climate and ecological crises. \nThis is a particularly sensitive issue in Cornwall\, the UK’s ‘capital of second homes’\, where many thousands of people are on the housing register while huge numbers of houses lie empty. \nPresented by Cornish builder Andy Carr\, Beyond Bricks looks at everything from high-tech housing solutions to people building with novel\, climate-friendly materials\, rethinking ‘waste’ and ensuring that our future homes also leave space for nature. \nWhether we own or rent our homes\, we all need a roof over our heads\, and Beyond Bricks is a solutions-focused film to inspire us all. \nProgramme for the evening: \n5:45pm – Doors open \n6pm – Communal Feast \n7pm – Social Cinema experience – We begin with a short mindful breathwork practice\, before screening the film\, and then opening up the room to an audience-led discussion. \nFeast: \nThe feast for this event will be sourced and cooked by the talented team at The Gardeners’ House\, who share our values about supporting local\, sustainably-grown produce.
