SUMMARY:Girl Climber
DESCRIPTION:Follow elite mountaineer Emily Harrington as she sets out to conquer Yosemite’s El Capitan in under 24 hours – one of the most demanding and dangerous ascents in the world. \nA five-time US National Champion and one of climbing’s most accomplished athletes\, Emily has summited Everest and the planet’s highest peaks. But this challenge is about more than the mountain – it’s about proving that greatness knows no gender. In a sport long dominated by men\, she faces the ultimate test: the wall\, the clock\, and her own limits. \nFeaturing breathtaking cinematography and appearances from Alex Honnold (Free Solo)\, Girl Climber flips the script on the traditional climbing documentary – an emotional\, edge-of-your-seat journey that’s as moving as it is heart-stopping. Against the majestic backdrop of Yosemite\, Emily’s story becomes a portrait of courage\, resilience\, and what it truly takes to break barriers. \nAge Guidance: 12+ \n

SUMMARY:Andrew Lownie – Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York
DESCRIPTION:Andrew Lownie’s book Entitled now feels uncannily timed. Published last August\, it has taken on a new urgency in light of the news cycle of the past few months – from Prince Andrew’s final removal from royal titles and public life to the renewed scrutiny surrounding the Epstein files. What first appeared as a forensic biography now reads as something closer to a live document of reputational collapse. \nDrawing on years of research\, interviews and previously unseen material\, Lownie charts the rise and fall of the House of York with remarkable clarity. But the story reaches far beyond one disgraced royal\, opening out into deeper questions about entrenched privilege\, institutional protection and a growing loss of public faith in national life. \nPresented by Falmouth Book Festival \nAge recommendation: 18+ \nAndrew Lownie – Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York \nTuesday 5th May 7.00pm \nTickets: £8.00/£10.00 \nA £1 Poly Fund payment is added to each ticket sold. A 50p booking fee is also applied per ticket for online and telephone transactions.

SUMMARY:‘Gentle\, Angry Women’ Film Screening\, Followed by Q&A with Director Barbara Santi
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a screening of ‘Gentle\, Angry Women’\, the latest documentary by award-winning Cornish film company Awen Productions. \nFollowing a sold-out premiere\, the film is returning for its 2026 tour of venues across the South West\, featuring live Q&As with Director Barbara Santi. \n‘Gentle\, Angry Women’ follows the empowering story of three young women as they retrace the march to Greenham Common\, forty years on from the first Women’s Peace Protests. \nThis coming-of-age documentary\, driven by intergenerational dialogue\, speaks to the need for action and change in our fractured world. Gentle\, Angry Women invites viewers to witness how historical activism resonates with today’s generation; a bridge between past courage and present hope. \n“In a time when young people are grappling with the climate crisis\, global conflicts\, and technological isolation\, they need to see how previous generations of ‘gentle\, angry women’ faced seemingly impossible odds and refused to give up.” \nEarly audiences have found the film to be an inspiring watch. \n“A really humbling story of collective women’s activism and a roller coaster of emotions for the audience.” \n“Powerful\, poetic\, and unapologetically bold.” \nThe film’s director Barbara Santi will be facilitating a Q&A following the screening\, inviting the audience to discuss the key themes and hear about the behind the scenes process of creating the film. \nThe trailer and more information can be found at Folklife Films: https://www.folklifefilms.co.uk/gentle-angry-women

SUMMARY:Samson & Delilah
DESCRIPTION:Touring from Mousehole to St Mawes this September!\nThe Killigrew’s are up to their usual devious ways in Falmouth and Queen Elizabeth is not at all happy. Sir Francis Godolphin is fighting the Spanish in Penzance and is not at all happy. Blissfully unaware and occasionally happy\, the Tudor players of Penryn are staging ‘Samson & Delilah.’ \n‘Samson and Delilah’ is a fun\, historical drama set during the backdrop of the Spanish Armada. The tour travels along Cornish coastal communities – from Mousehole to Penryn – where the Cornish and Spanish finally meet. Two worlds are about to collide both on and off the stage! \nThe tour plays at a variety of Cornish venues\, both indoor and outdoor\, giving greater relevance and meaning to our harbours\, villages\, castles\, beacons and abandoned ruins. We want to connect our communities along the Armada route! \nSamson & Delilah has received £47\,360 from Cornwall Council’s Community Levelling Up Programme\, part of the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund. The project has only been made possible thanks to this funding alongside funding from FEAST Cornwall and Carn to Cove. This means that Collective Arts has been able to keep ticket prices relatively low so that lots of people can come along and enjoy a good night out at the theatre. \nRecommended for audiences 8+ \nTickets: Adults £8\, Child £5\, Family of four £20
