Father Christmas Parade To Light Up Truro Tomorrow: Festive Markets and Shopping Await
Truro is set to welcome the return of its much-anticipated Father Christmas Parade tomorrow evening, Wednesday, 27th November, kicking off a month of festive activities, late-night shopping, and vibrant markets in the city.
Parade Details and Entertainment
The parade, brought to the city by Truro BID and sponsored by Coodes Solicitors, begins at 6.30pm in Boscawen Street, with entertainment from Rock Choir Cornwall starting at 6pm. This year’s parade takes inspiration from the Hall for Cornwall’s Christmas show and will feature Father Christmas, his elves, and participants dressed in green, alongside Jacks and a couple of giants.
In a new addition, the event will also feature small lanterns carried by families who participated in a City of Lights workshop earlier this year. The route will see the parade move through St Nicholas Street, Kenwyn Street, Little Castle Street, River Street, and back to Boscawen Street via Princes Street and Green Street, finishing at Back Quay. Visitors are encouraged to spread out along the route for the best views, with security staff on hand to assist.
Markets and Late-Night Shopping
The Father Christmas Parade also marks the start of Truro’s first late-night shopping evening, with businesses staying open late on Wednesdays for the next four weeks. The Truro Christmas Market on Lemon Quay will trade until 9pm, offering a selection of local gifts, produce, and street food.
Additionally, the Boscawen Street Christmas Markets will begin tomorrow and run every Wednesday from 9am to 9pm and Saturday from 9am to 5pm, right up to Christmas. Visitors can enjoy traffic-free shopping, live music, and a variety of stalls showcasing local goods.
Extended Park & Ride Services
To accommodate the festive crowds, Truro’s Park & Ride will operate extended hours, with the last service leaving the city at 9.30pm on Wednesday evenings. Full details can be found at Visit Truro.
With festive markets, live music, and opportunities to support local businesses, Truro’s Christmas celebrations promise to offer something for everyone this season.
