Make a Difference: Volunteer to Guide Young Lives in Cornwall

Published On: 21 March 2024Last Updated: 21 March 2024By

The Truro, Perranporth, and Tregony Police have once again highlighted their commitment to nurturing the youth of the Truro and Falmouth area through their Volunteer Police Cadet Unit.

This unit, which has been successfully running for the past three years, convenes at the Tremough University Campus, a location that generously offers full access to its facilities for the program’s activities.

The Role of a Volunteer Leader

The police force is currently seeking new Volunteer Leaders to continue the valuable work of the unit. This role presents an unparalleled opportunity for individuals to leverage their personal attributes and skills in a way that directly benefits the local community by inspiring its younger members. Ideal candidates for the role are described as friendly, approachable, and keen to acquire new skills. While specific qualifications are not a requirement, previous experience in working with young individuals aged 13 to 18 is seen as beneficial.

Moreover, prospective leaders are expected to have a solid understanding and respect for diversity and equality, alongside being effective communicators. The invitation to become a Volunteer Police Cadet Leader is extended to adults from all walks of life, emphasising that a background in policing is not a prerequisite for the role.

Application and Contact Information

Those interested in contributing to the development of young people within their community are encouraged to visit the Devon & Cornwall Police recruitment page for more information on how to apply. The page provides detailed insights into the role and access to application forms.

For further enquiries, potential applicants can reach out to Phil, the West Cornwall Youth Engagement Officer, either via mobile at 07595 012293 or through email at philip.rees@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk.

This initiative represents a unique chance for individuals passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of young people, offering them guidance, support, and inspiration as they grow into responsible members of the community.
