Authorities are seeking help to locate a red VW Golf believed to be involved in the events of Thursday, 6 June.

Keys Stolen from Property in Roche

The incident began at around 11.25 pm when a burglary was reported in Roche. Thieves stole keys from a property and left the scene in a red VW Golf, heading in the direction of St Austell.

Officer Injured at Applegreen Service Station

At approximately 11.40 pm, an officer responding to a separate incident noticed the vehicle at the Applegreen Service Station on Penwinnick Road. As the Police Constable approached the VW Golf on foot, the vehicle struck him before fleeing the scene.

Local Policing Superintendent Jim Saunders stated, “The officer was rushed to hospital by colleagues and has sustained serious injuries to his arm. He has since been discharged and we all wish him well and hope for a speedy recovery.”

Ongoing Search for Suspects and Vehicle

The suspects left the area in the red VW Golf, which was displaying the registration plate EJ71 CVE. Superintendent Saunders explained, “Searches have been ongoing since in order to locate them and the vehicle. We are now appealing for the public’s help to find it.”

Potential Link to Texaco Petrol Station Robbery

Superintendent Saunders also mentioned a separate robbery at the nearby Texaco petrol station around 11 pm the same night. Two suspects forced entry and stole cash from the premises. Authorities are investigating any potential links between this robbery and the assault on the officer.

“I would urge people not to speculate about this but if you have any information that might help our enquiries, then please get in touch and report it,” Saunders added.
