Halloween Alert: Police Issue Warning for Trick-or-Treaters – Who’s Welcoming Visitors?
As Halloween approaches, Camborne, Pool, and Redruth Police are urging residents to be mindful of those who may not want to participate in the annual festivities. While many enjoy trick-or-treating, it’s important to remember that not everyone shares the same enthusiasm, especially the elderly and vulnerable.
Be Aware of Non-Celebrators
The police remind the community that some people may feel uncomfortable or even frightened by strangers repeatedly knocking on their door in the evening. It’s essential to respect the wishes of those who choose not to take part in Halloween.
If you’re planning to go out with your children for trick-or-treating, stick to areas and people you know. A common sign that households are open to visitors is the presence of a pumpkin displayed outside or in the window.
Halloween Posters Available
To help make things easier, Camborne, Pool, and Redruth Police have made several Halloween posters available for download. These can be displayed in windows to indicate whether trick-or-treaters are welcome:
- Welcome Halloween Callers with Children in Costume
- Welcome Trick-or-Treaters Colouring Poster
- Welcome Trick-or-Treaters Colouring Sheet
- “Sorry – No Trick or Treat” Poster
- Retailer Poster: “Eggs and Flour Will Be Sold at Our Discretion”
For those who prefer a printed version, a limited number of posters will be available at the Police Enquiry Office in Camborne Police Station. Feel free to pop in and grab one.
Make sure this Halloween is full of treats, not tricks—while keeping the peace for everyone in the community!
