More Beryl Bikes Roll Out in Newquay: New Stops Added!

Published On: 2 November 2024Last Updated: 2 November 2024By

Three years ago, Louis Gardner, Cornwall Councillor for Newquay Central & Pentire, successfully secured funding to introduce the Beryl Bike scheme in Newquay. The town became one of the first areas in Cornwall to roll out this innovative scheme, offering locals and visitors a sustainable transport option. Since then, Louis has continued collaborating with the company behind the bikes to expand the service.

New Bikes and Stops Announced

Louis recently announced that Newquay will be seeing an addition of 15 more Beryl Bikes and three new stops. The new docking locations are set at Quintrell Downs, Prow Park, and Pargolla Road, enhancing accessibility across the area. This expansion reflects the popularity of the scheme, as Newquay remains one of the most well-used Beryl Bike locations in the UK.

Public Input Encouraged

Residents and visitors are encouraged to use the app to suggest where future stops should be placed, ensuring that the scheme continues to meet the needs of the community.

This development underscores the sustained growth and success of Newquay’s bike-sharing scheme, promoting eco-friendly travel options for all.

Eco friendly and sustainable? I love how these terms are bandied around in an attempt to incentivise and steer us towards going all electric. Through clever marketing, people think Ebikes and EVs are clean, environmentally clean options, while forgetting that pollution is created by the power station that generates the electricity. Im not saying these bikes arent a good idea. Im just pointing out that theyre not as environmentally clean as we are led to believe.
