Don’t Miss This: Matilda the Musical Jr Comes to Life in St Austell This May

Performing Arts students to take the stage at the Keay Theatre

Cornwall College St Austell’s Performing Arts students are set to bring Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical Jr to the stage this May, in what promises to be a high-energy and captivating performance.

Taking place on the 15th and 16th of May at the Keay Theatre in St Austell, the production will showcase the talents of Level 2 and 3 learners from the Creative Digital Academy, in partnership with Studio 4.

A story brought to life by rising stars

Known for its themes of courage, intelligence and resilience, Matilda is a perfect fit for the passionate and dynamic student performers.

“We’re incredibly excited to bring Matilda to life on stage,” said James Baggaley, Acting Curriculum Area Manager for Creative Digital Academy at Cornwall College St Austell. “Our students have been rehearsing and working tirelessly to create a show that will delight and inspire audiences of all ages.”

This isn’t the first time the Creative Digital Academy has staged a large-scale musical. Following the success of previous productions Chicago and The Addams Family, students are once again preparing to shine on stage.

A chance to support emerging talent

Anneka Wass, Curriculum Area Manager for the Academy, said: “This production is a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their talent and hard work. The dedication they have shown in bringing this beloved musical to life is truly inspiring, and we can’t wait for audiences to experience their incredible performances.”

The Keay Theatre, known for championing new and local talent, will host the production.
