Paddle Boarder Clings to Rocks in Mount’s Bay Drama: Lifeboat Crew Rush to the Rescue

Penlee Lifeboat’s volunteer crew sprang into action after being tasked by Falmouth Coastguards at 4:15pm on 3rd May 2025 to a casualty hanging onto rocks near St Michael’s Mount.

Urgent Response in Challenging Conditions
The B class Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat, Mollie and Ivor Dent, launched immediately and raced across Mount’s Bay. In force 5 winds and a moderate sea, the crew, led by James Roberts at the helm, successfully plucked a paddle boarder from the water.
The casualty had found themselves in difficulty due to the windy conditions and had been clinging to rocks for safety. Thankfully, they were unhurt.
Casualty Brought to Safety
The volunteer crew took the casualty to the nearest beach at Marazion, ensuring they were safely ashore.
After the successful rescue, Penlee’s inshore lifeboat returned to Newlyn, refuelled and prepared for the next service.
