Ugly Butterfly Restaurant to Close at Carbis Bay Estate on 28th June
Ugly Butterfly by Adam Handling to close on 28th June
The Carbis Bay Estate has confirmed that Ugly Butterfly, the restaurant and bar by renowned chef Adam Handling, will close its doors on 28th June 2025.
The restaurant, which opened in the summer of 2021, has spent the last four years celebrating Cornish produce with innovative, sustainable menus served in a striking clifftop setting above the sands of Blue Flag Carbis Bay Beach.

Stephen Baker, owner of Carbis Bay Estate, said:
“It has been a great addition for our guests to have Adam and his team on the estate. Ugly Butterfly has brought a new dimension with its approach to sustainability and zero food waste, creating unique dishes. The Estate, with the Ugly Butterfly Restaurant and Bar situated directly above the sands of Blue Flag Carbis Bay Beach on breathtaking St Ives Bay, has a steadfast commitment to duty of care towards its environment and we welcomed Ugly Butterfly to further enhance our offering and complement our vision. We wish Adam and his team all the very best in their next chapter.”
Adam Handling looks ahead
Adam Handling added:

What’s coming next?
Although Ugly Butterfly is moving on, Carbis Bay Estate hinted that new plans are already in the works:
“Keep following us and we’ll tell you more.”
The last service at Ugly Butterfly will be on Friday 28th June.
