A man has been charged with murder after human remains were discovered in the village of Sticker, near St Austell.

Man due in court this week

James Desborough, aged 39, from Old Oak Woods in Lower Sticker, has been remanded in custody and is set to appear before magistrates sitting in Bodmin on Thursday 10th July.

He has been charged with the murder of 43-year-old Daniel Coleman, from St Austell. The charge relates to a period between 2nd June and 7th July. Daniel’s next-of-kin have been informed of the development.

Forensic work ongoing at the scene

Specialist forensic officers are continuing work at a site in Sticker as part of the investigation.

Detective Superintendent Jon Bancroft said:

“We are continuing with a forensic examination of the scene which is being carried out slowly and methodically.

“Our teams of officers and staff are being assisted by the National Crime Agency expert group and Home Office-approved scientists.

“A significant police presence will remain in the Sticker area as we progress our enquiries expeditiously.

“I continue to ask that people do not speculate on social media about this case.”

Second arrest: Woman remains on bail

A woman in her 30s from Newquay, who was arrested last week on suspicion of murder, remains on police bail while enquiries continue.
