Oddfellows Honour Long-Serving Members in Redruth Memorial Ceremony
A heartfelt memorial service was held at the historic Oddfellows Hall in Redruth to honour the lives of two deeply respected members of the Plymouth and Truro District Oddfellows.
A Tribute to Lifelong Service
The Riviera Provincial Lodge of Past Grands gathered to pay formal tribute to Sisters Mavis Voisey of Redruth and Jean La Roche of Plymouth, both long-standing and senior members of the Independent Order of Oddfellows.
Held in subdued lighting and with an atmosphere of quiet reverence, the ceremony marked a traditional and solemn remembrance. The Riviera Provincial Lodge, which has been active since 1933, holds such events as part of its commitment to honouring the memory of devoted members.
Warm and dignified tributes were offered for both Mavis and Jean, whose quiet leadership and years of dedicated service left a lasting impression across the local Oddfellows community. One newer member, moved by the experience, described the gathering as “elegant and dignified.”
Fellowship at the Penventon
After the memorial, eligible members gathered at the Penventon Hotel in Redruth for a commemorative luncheon. A toast was raised in affectionate memory of Mavis and Jean, reflecting the respect and affection they inspired during their lifetimes.
Their legacy remains recorded not only in the formal records of the Lodge but also in the memories of those who knew them.
