BID Camborne Seeks Memories of 12 Days of Christmas Banner Creation
Camborne’s Business Improvement Development (BID) team is looking to hear from anyone who helped create the 12 Days of Christmas banners that decorate the town centre each festive season.
The banners, which have been displayed annually around the town’s central Christmas tree, were made in 2018 during sessions led by local artist Tony Minnion. Pupils from St John’s Primary, St Meriadoc Infant, Rosemellion, Roskear, Weeth and Trevithick Learning Academy all took part.
Memories Wanted
“We work on our Christmas events all year round and are keen to collect memories and stories about getting everything prepared,” said Anna Pascoe, BID Camborne Manager.
“It’s lovely that so many local school pupils helped with their painting, and it would be great to hear what that meant to them, and whether seeing the banners at Christmas is a fond reminder of the part they played in producing such an important work of Camborne art. We’d also love to hear from teachers, teaching assistants and parents who remember their class or their children being involved too.”
Two Festive Events This Year
“This year’s theme is ‘Merry and Bright’ and, in a change to recent programming, Camborne will be holding its Children’s Lantern Parade, organised by the Town Council, and the Christmas Lights Switch-on, organised by BID, on two separate evenings. That means residents and businesses can enjoy two free, fun and very festive events, rather than just one.
“We’ve already reserved a tree and our Christmas Working Group met again this week to discuss further plans.
“It may be summer, but Santa can rest assured BID Camborne is on it!”
Anyone who was involved in making the banners, or who has memories of the process, can get in touch by emailing smile@cambornetown.com.
