New data shows 15% rise in interest for Cornwall holidays
New analysis from Premier Parks has revealed that interest in Cornwall holidays has grown significantly in 2025, even as the wider UK tourism sector faces mounting challenges.
Cornwall Interest Rises
The data, which compared website traffic from January to early June 2025 with the same period in 2024, shows a 15.14% increase in searches for Cornwall holiday destinations.
This rise has been welcomed by the Back British Holidays campaign, which continues to push for greater awareness of the value of domestic tourism. Cornwall, where tourism plays a vital role in the local economy, remains one of the strongest performing regions.
Premier Parks, which promotes premium campsites and holiday parks across the UK, attracts thousands of motorhomers, campervanners, caravanners and holidaymakers seeking outdoor experiences.
National Picture Remains Complex
While Cornwall is benefitting from a surge of interest, the outlook for the wider UK tourism industry is less encouraging.
Recent figures from VisitBritain show:
-
Total UK trips fell by 10.05% (against earlier forecasts of a 5% fall)
-
Holiday-specific trips dropped by 12.6% (slightly above the 11.98% prediction)
-
By 2028, the market is projected to decline by £34.86bn compared with 2022
This confirms concerns raised by Back British Holidays that domestic travel remains under pressure, despite pockets of regional growth.
Calls for Support
Daniel Attwood, spokesperson for Back British Holidays, said:
"These regional signs of interest are welcomed and they reflect the enduring appeal of UK holidays. But we cannot lose sight of the wider context – this is still a fragile market.
We must keep momentum going to support local businesses and ensure British holidays stay affordable and accessible for all."
Simon McGrath of the National Caravan Council (NCC) echoed the concern:
"Any upturn for domestic holiday bookings is great news that will boost tourism businesses, such as holiday parks.
Tourism and hospitality businesses are currently facing significant challenges in tough economic times and we are calling on Government decision-makers – both UK-wide and devolved – to boost financial support for the sector and increase spending for domestic tourism promotional campaigns.
The UK has a vibrant, diverse and world-leading tourism offering that is really important to the UK economy – it's vital we do all we can to support the industry."
Cornwall Campsite Reflects on 2025
For Cornwall, demand has been strong at local parks.
Charlotte Veale, Director of Wooda Farm, which is celebrating 50 years of welcoming guests, described 2025 as one of the most interesting years yet:
"Demand has been strong across our caravans, cottages and touring pitches, with a noticeable rise in last-minute bookings as more people look for a spontaneous escape to the Cornish coast (often influenced by the weather forecast!).
Cornwall's enduring appeal lies in its ability to offer more than just a holiday. In a busy world, visitors are drawn to a lifestyle centred on wellbeing – immersing themselves in nature, enjoying sea swims and coastal walks, and taking the time to slow down and reconnect.
For many families, returning year after year has become a much-loved tradition, with Cornwall holding a special place across generations.
As we look ahead to 2026, we're confident that Cornwall's timeless charm, paired with the experiences we've created at Wooda over the past five decades, will continue to inspire visitors to return time and again."
