Police Appeal for Witnesses After Jewellery Theft in Penzance

Police are appealing for witnesses after a high-value jewellery burglary at a Penzance store earlier this month.

Jewellery Taken in Broad Daylight

On the afternoon of Tuesday 5th August, two men entered Clare Mason Studio on Chapel Street and stole a glass display case containing 16 handmade gold rings set with precious stones.

The men fled towards the Wharfside area via Chapel Street and Abbey Slip. Six of the rings were dropped in nearby streets and later recovered thanks to members of the public who assisted officers.

Police Release Images

As part of the investigation, officers have released images of two men they would like to identify. While acknowledging the images are of poor quality, police hope someone may still recognise them and come forward.

PC Gabe Abbott said:

“This was a brazen theft in broad daylight and fortunately no-one was injured. We would like to hear from anyone who recognises the men pictured as they may be able to assist with our investigation.

“We know the town was busy at the time and would urge any witnesses or anyone with relevant CCTV, doorbell or dashcams to also get in touch.

“These rings are distinctive so we would further ask traders and second hand dealers, as well as the public, to call us if they are offered them for sale.”
