Ugly Butterfly 2.0 Adds 9-Course Tasting Menu in Newquay
Award-winning chef and restaurateur Adam Handling MBE has unveiled a new 9-course tasting menu at Ugly Butterfly 2.0 at The Headland in Newquay, just two months after opening the restaurant.
A Journey Through the South-West
Priced at £170 per person, the tasting menu has been designed to give diners a theatrical and immersive journey through the South-West. It sits alongside the restaurant’s existing ‘4×4’ menu, relaxed terrace menu and afternoon tea.
The menu reflects the artistry of Adam’s Michelin-starred London restaurant, Frog, but with the added backdrop of sweeping coastal views.
Produce for the menu is either foraged by the team or sourced directly from local fishermen, farmers and suppliers. The only exception is the handcrafted chocolates from the Adam Handling Chocolate Shop, served as the final course.

Highlights of the Menu
Dishes include ‘Picnic on the beach’, a playful take on Adam’s signature snacks with a seaside twist, locally caught mackerel with radish and preserved truffles, the Collection’s popular ‘Bread, chicken butter’, and a rich venison ravioli with black garlic and Kern cheese.
Cornish plums take centre stage in a nostalgic ‘Victorian plum crumble’, before guests finish with chocolates from Adam’s London shop.
To complement the food, Ugly Butterfly 2.0 also offers one of the most extensive wine lists in Cornwall. Diners can choose to enhance the experience with two new wine flights: the ‘Sommelier’ at £100 per person or the ‘Premium’ at £250.

Adam Handling’s Vision
Adam said:
“We’ve thrown everything into making this new tasting menu the best it can be and we wanted to give guests the option to choose something even more special for a celebratory meal. We’re striving for a Michelin star with this menu and Cornwall couldn’t be a more inspiring setting for that ambition. We’ve ramped up our foraging massively across the Collection in the last year and having this kind of seasonal Cornish produce right on our doorstep is just unbeatable.”

Continuing the Choice
Alongside the new tasting menu, Ugly Butterfly 2.0 will continue to offer its ‘4×4’ menu, terrace dining and afternoon tea that celebrates Cornish produce.
The restaurant is open daily from 12pm to 11pm for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, but will close on Sundays and Mondays from the last week of September.
Both of Adam’s Cornish restaurants, Ugly Butterfly 2.0 and The Tartan Fox, are also offering a 20% discount on food and drinks for tables of up to four guests with a Pard Card.
