Charlie Noordewier headlines Dead Famous on 10th October

Charlie Noordewier will headline his first full band show in Cornwall next week, taking to the stage at the Dead Famous in Newquay on Friday 10th October.

The folk singer-songwriter, who grew up on the edges of Devon’s Dartmoor, has been building a reputation for his introspective lyrics and standout live performances.

Just last month Charlie released his latest single Little Miss Sunshine, ahead of supporting Sam Fender at his 40,000-capacity show at Whythenshaw Park in Manchester.

Building a name on the folk scene

Charlie’s music has been shaped by what has been described as “unstoppable graft”, regularly travelling cross-country to perform alongside local traditional folk names, while also earning slots at stadium shows. His performances are marked by virtuosic guitar playing and a strong live band synergy, with songs ranging from the grit of life’s tougher edges to softer moments of escape.

Tickets and further details are available at charlienoordewier.co.uk.

Dermot Henry joins the line-up

Charlie will be joined by Dermot Henry, a 22-year-old singer-songwriter whose music mixes storytelling, emotion and wit. Dermot spent a year living in Paris, performing in bars and busking across the city. His songs take inspiration from friendships, relationships, art, culture, history and film.

After gaining a following online for his honest and direct style, Dermot supported Irish folk-pop band Kingfishr across Europe and is now emerging as a distinctive new voice in UK alternative folk.

Promoters see big future for both artists

Local promoters SW1 Productions, working with Communion One, are backing the Newquay show as a special moment for two acts they believe are on the rise.

Katy Barnes from SW1 said:
“This show reminds me of when George Ezra, supported by Sam Fender was playing small venues in Cornwall all those years ago! It’s exciting to work with artists from the ground up and we are sure that Charlie Noordewier and Dermot Henry are two names that in years to come we will be remembering when they played our small Newquay show!”
