Oddfellows Members Enjoy Months of Friendship and Activities Across Cornwall and Plymouth

Published On: 11 October 2025Last Updated: 11 October 2025By

Members of the Oddfellows Friendly Society in Redruth, Playing Place (Truro) and Plymouth have been making the most of a lively few months packed with friendship, fun and fascinating activities.

Inspiring Talks and Heartwarming Moments

Recent highlights have included a visit from ‘Rubbish Ruth’, who shared her campaign to Beautify Britain, and a presentation from a retired police officer who spoke about his experiences working with forces in the USA and on aid missions in Eastern Europe.

Members also welcomed Lizzie and her guide dog, Ferdy, for an inspiring session that left everyone smiling. The Redruth Friendship Group went one step further by presenting £50 to Lizzie for Guide Dogs UK, raised through a raffle and boosted by the sale of gifts.

Friendship and Support at the Heart of It All

The Oddfellows’ recent calendar has been filled with engaging activities, including a trip to the Royal Naval Heritage Centre in Devonport, quizzes, board games, lunches out, raffles and regular welfare support for those in need.

Free chair yoga sessions, book giveaways, audiobooks and plenty of refreshments have helped create a welcoming atmosphere at every get-together.

“It’s all about friendship and community,” said local Secretary Peter English. “We’re here for each other, whether that’s through a friendly chat, a social event, or a bit of help when times are tough.”
