Altarnun Primary School Holds Harvest Festival Supporting Launceston Food Bank
A Celebration of Generosity and Togetherness
Altarnun Primary School, part of Athena Learning Trust, held its annual harvest festival this month, bringing pupils, staff, and families together for a joyful assembly filled with music, performances and community spirit.
Parents and carers turned out in force to enjoy the children’s performances, with an impressive collection of food donations gathered for the Launceston Food Bank, alongside a tempting selection of homemade cakes.
Supporting a Vital Local Service
Launceston Food Bank, which first opened its doors in 2011, now operates four mornings a week to meet growing local demand. Working with over 100 agencies and groups — including schools, churches, health visitors and social workers — the food bank provides essential support to people in crisis across the community.
Altarnun Primary School extended heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed, helping to support those in need while making this year’s harvest celebration a memorable occasion.
Pride in Pupils and Community
Lynsey Slater, Executive Principal at Altarnun Primary School, said:
“We are so proud of our pupils and deeply grateful to our families for their generosity. The harvest festival is always a highlight of our calendar, and this year’s celebration truly reflected the kindness and togetherness of our school community.”
Nurturing a Love of Learning
Staff at Altarnun Primary provide a nurturing and inspiring environment where children are encouraged to develop a lifelong love of learning and achieve their full potential. The school’s broad and engaging curriculum promotes both academic excellence and personal growth, ensuring every child has the opportunity to flourish.
Altarnun Primary School, rated Good by Ofsted in all areas, was praised by inspectors for being a warm and welcoming community where pupils enjoy coming to school.
Open Events for Prospective Families
The school is hosting open events for prospective families on Wednesday 15th October at 11am and Monday 10th November at 2pm.
