Chapel House to Host Winter Feast & Ferment Workshop in Penzance
Chapel House in Penzance is set to host a festive Sunday afternoon like no other on 30th November 2025, with the ‘Winter Feast & Ferment’, a workshop and dining experience that celebrates seasonal flavours and the craft of fermentation.
A Hands-On Fermentation Experience
The afternoon begins with a practical session led by Rachel Booth, founder of Newlyn Fermentary. Guests will learn to make traditional sauerkraut, creating their own jar of winter kraut infused with spices such as bay, clove or juniper, ready to enjoy during the festive season.
Rachel will also demonstrate how to brine seasonal roots, offering an easy introduction to fermentation for those looking to bring new flavours into their home cooking.
“For me healthy is and always should be delicious, sharing my passion for the delicious simplicity of fermented foods, and weaving that into indulgent eating is what the afternoon is about,” said Rachel. “It’s a real pleasure to collaborate with Chapel House to offer a day that captures the spirit of the season.”
A Seasonal Feast Awaits
Following the workshop, guests will sit down for a three-course ferment-inspired feast created in collaboration with the Chapel House team. The menu will include a choice of game or mushroom roast, with each course incorporating fermented elements to enhance flavour.
After lunch, guests can unwind upstairs by the fire with tea, coffee or an optional digestif, rounding off an afternoon of warmth and indulgence.
