Cornish child bereavement charity Penhaligon’s Friends has launched new ‘Teen Z-Cards’ to support teenagers coping with the loss of a loved one.

Helping Young People Find Their Way After Loss

The charity, which has been providing bereavement support across Cornwall for the past three decades, now helps more than 1,000 children and young people every year.

The new z-cards, created especially for teenagers, include bitesize advice on how to manage emotions, make memories, and build a predictable routine after someone has died. They also offer tips on how to communicate with friends and family, and remind young people to take small steps as they navigate grief.

Small enough to fit in a pocket, the cards also signpost young people to Penhaligon’s Friends for additional guidance, including activity days, memory days, teen groups, and one-to-one support.

Backed by Bolingey Barbarians

The new resource was made possible thanks to generous funding from the Bolingey Barbarians, a group that has supported children’s charities since it was formed in March 1993.

Their recent donation of £3,775 enabled Penhaligon’s Friends to produce the Teen Z-Cards, as well as purchase roller banners, branded tablecloths, books, and other useful resources.

Marking 30 Years of Support

Julie Parker, CEO of Penhaligon’s Friends, said:

“We are so proud to be celebrating 30 years of Penhaligon’s Friends. Since 1995 we have walked alongside thousands of Cornish children and young people during the most difficult times in their lives. We are so grateful to the Bolingey Barbarians for their ongoing support which has enabled us to create this exciting new resource, providing great advice to young people facing bereavement in Cornwall.”
