Cornwall’s McDonald’s Crowned Best in England Ahead of Half Term – Here’s Where It Is

Published On: 23 October 2025Last Updated: 23 October 2025By

As families across the country gear up for half term, a new study has revealed that the McDonald’s at Cornwall Services is officially the best-rated in England.

The research, carried out by Remove Background, analysed Google reviews from every McDonald’s across the country to find out which branches customers love most – and which ones don’t measure up.

Cornwall Tops the List

Located in Cornish Gateway Services near St Austell, the Cornwall branch took the top spot, with 52.42% of its reviews rated five stars. Only 6.18% of reviews gave it one star, and it holds an overall Google rating of 4.1 out of five.

That puts it ahead of popular locations across the country, including Somerset, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire.

The Top 10 McDonald’s in England

According to the study, these are the ten highest-rated McDonald’s restaurants in England:

  1. St Austell, Cornwall – Cornish Gateway Services – 52.42% five-star reviews

  2. Wincanton, Somerset – Unit A, Lawrence Hill – 50.55%

  3. Boston, Lincolnshire – A16/A17 Sutterton Roundabout – 49.60%

  4. Bourne, Lincolnshire – Milestone Road – 49.26%

  5. Shiptonthorpe, East Yorkshire – York Road – 49.08%

  6. Norwich, Norfolk – Norwich Road – 48.04%

  7. Norwich, Norfolk – Yarmouth Road – 47.96%

  8. Warwick, Warwickshire – Stratford Road – 47.72%

  9. Morley, West Yorkshire – Wide Lane – 47.48%

  10. Tiverton, Devon – Tiverton Business Park – 47.22%

Not Every Branch Scored Well

At the other end of the rankings, Chingford in Greater London came out as the lowest-rated McDonald’s in England. The study found that 35.49% of its reviews were one-star, while just 24.07% were five-star. The branch holds an overall Google rating of 2.8.

What the Experts Say

Commenting on the findings, Marc Porcar, CEO of Remove Background, said:

“While the top-rated McDonald’s are generally fairly spread out across England, the south slightly dominates the ranking, and Norwich, Norfolk, is clearly a favourite among McDonald’s fans, with two locations in the top ten.

“All McDonald’s serve the same menu; however, it is clearly more enjoyed in certain locations. This could be down to many different factors, such as cleanliness, service speed, and staff friendliness.

“If you are lucky enough to live near any of the top-rated branches, or planning to pass one while travelling, it might be worth stopping by to try one of the nation’s favourite McDonald’s.”

With half term around the corner, it might just be the perfect excuse for a pit stop at Cornwall’s number one McDonald’s.
