Cornwall Man to Face Court Over Alleged Burial Offence
A man from Cornwall is due to appear in court accused of preventing the lawful burial of a dead body and committing fraud.
Charges to Be Heard in Bodmin
Jack Weekes, 31, of St Johns Road, Millbrook, Cornwall, has been summonsed to appear before Bodmin Magistrates’ Court on Friday 31st October.
He faces two charges:

Preventing the lawful and decent burial of a dead body between 16th October and 4th December 2023 at Millbrook, Cornwall.

Fraud by false representation under the Fraud Act 2006 between 11th October and 5th December 2023, at Millbrook, Cornwall.
It is alleged that Jack dishonestly made a false representation by providing funeral services, intending to make a gain for himself, and used the money received for personal use unrelated to the funeral services.
Police Investigation
An investigation began after police received a report in March 2024. During their enquiries, officers attended a former funeral directors’ premises in the village of Millbrook, Cornwall, on Thursday 28th March 2024.
