Four Motorists Recorded Breaking 30mph Limit on New Road

Police Community Support Officer Bex joined volunteers from the Community Speed Watch group on New Road, Liskeard, on Wednesday 5th November, monitoring traffic between 08:30 and 09:30.

During the one-hour operation, 213 vehicles passed through the area, with four drivers recorded exceeding the 30mph speed limit, travelling between 35 and 38mph.

Those motorists will receive letters explaining they were recorded speeding and will be given education as a positive outcome.

Keeping Roads Safe Near Schools

The Community Speed Watch is operated by volunteers dedicated to keeping roads safe for both drivers and pedestrians. The area is frequently used by children walking to school or catching buses to college, making speed awareness particularly important.

Police say that residents often raise concerns about speeding vehicles at local surgeries and to the Town Council, highlighting the ongoing need for the Speed Watch in the area.

Volunteers Needed

Anyone interested in joining the Community Speed Watch team can contact the Town Council or email speedwatch@dc.police.uk with their name and contact details.
