Brave Enough to Take the Plunge? New Year’s Dip Returns to Newquay

Published On: 2 December 2025Last Updated: 2 December 2025By

Young Lives vs Cancer are calling on people in Cornwall to start 2026 with a splash by joining their annual sea dip at Newquay Harbour on New Year’s Day.

A Chilly Start to the Year

The charity is inviting anyone who fancies a cold-water challenge to wade into the Atlantic Ocean at 12 noon on 1st January. Swimmers can take part in a cossie, wetsuit or even fancy dress.

The dip aims to raise money to support children, young people and their families facing cancer. For those not tempted by the cold, the charity is encouraging supporters to come along and cheer on those who dare to enter the water.

Food, Drinks and Fundraising

Bacon butties, cakes and hot drinks will be available on the day. Young Lives vs Cancer will also have collecting buckets ready for anyone able to donate.

Entry costs £10 for adults and £5 for children under 16, with cash preferred. Participants are also welcome to raise additional funds by getting sponsored.

The event is planned for New Year’s Day, subject to favourable weather conditions.

Special Artwork Supporting the Cause

This year, Cornish artist Rod Walker has created a new painting of last year’s Dip for CLIC. Prints are available from SaltWalls Gallery at The Crescent, Newquay, with all profits going to Young Lives vs Cancer.

Prints can be purchased as print-only for £20 or as framed prints for £80. They are available through SaltWalls Gallery.

Young Lives vs Cancer say they look forward to welcoming both dippers and spectators on the day.
