Devon and Cornwall Police Launch Christmas Safety Campaign

Published On: 2 December 2025Last Updated: 2 December 2025By

Devon and Cornwall Police has launched Think Safe, Stay Festive, a month-long Christmas safety campaign offering simple steps to help people enjoy the season without becoming victims of crime.

The campaign runs throughout December and focuses on clear, practical advice covering fraud, online security, personal safety, home security and road safety.

What the Campaign Covers

Assistant Chief Constable Nikki Leaper said:
“Christmas should be a time of joy and celebration. Unfortunately, it’s also a time when criminals look for opportunities to take advantage. Our campaign is designed to empower the public with simple, effective ways to stay safe and look out for one another.”

Throughout December, safety tips, videos and updates will be posted on the Devon and Cornwall Police social media channels, offering reminders on staying secure both at home and while out and about.

Extra Police Presence This Month

Officers will increase patrols during the run-up to Christmas, attending late night shopping events and festive markets. With this being the busiest time of year for shoppers and businesses, police will continue working with community safety partners to focus on shoplifters and areas where theft is more likely.

Assistant Chief Constable Nikki Leaper added:
“Taking simple steps, like being careful with email links or planning how you’ll get home after a night out, can support a safer and more enjoyable Christmas for the whole community.”

Police are encouraging everyone to follow and share the advice so that friends, family and neighbours stay alert.

Devon and Cornwall Police closed with a message to all residents: a wish for a safe and happy Christmas, and a reminder to Think Safe, Stay Festive.
