Christmas Tree Trail Set to Begin at the Edward Hain Centre
The Edward Hain Centre in St Ives is gearing up for the first of its two Christmas events, running from Monday 8th December to Friday 12th. The week will bring a mix of community involvement, festive creativity and a chance for visitors to help choose the best decorated tree.
Christmas Tree Trail Opens Monday
The Christmas Tree Trail is free to attend and invites visitors to browse a collection of trees donated to the Centre. Everyone can vote for their favourite, while enjoying wintry refreshments including hot and cold drinks, mince pies and mini chocolate rolls.
Younger visitors can take part in a hunt the reindeer game. Anyone who finds all of Santa’s missing reindeer will receive a chocolate prize.
Local businesses and community groups have been decorating and donating trees to promote their brands. At the time of writing, two early entries have already arrived. One is from Cornish Spliced, a company that makes jewellery and decorations from recycled found objects. The other is from the St Ives Brownies. Each group has made its own decorations.
“We have several more coming and the more the merrier!” said Centre trustee, Kit Grindstaff. “It’s a great way for local community group or businesses to promote their brand, and we still have room.”
How to Enter a Tree
Trees can be real, artificial or recycled, but must measure no more than 75cm across. Entry costs £5. Anyone wanting to take part should contact the Centre’s Community Hub Officer, Claire Jefferies, at community.volunteering@edwardhaincentre.org.uk or call 01736 691233. Ideally, trees should be delivered by the end of Friday.
A Small Prize Up for Grabs
The tree with the most votes will receive a small prize at the Centre’s Christmas Fête on Monday 15th December. This is a separate event with more to offer, which the Centre says will be detailed in the coming days.
