Camborne Students Represent British Culture at Global Forum in Japan
Students from Camborne Science & International Academy have returned from a two week trip to Japan after representing British culture at an international youth forum.
The students, from Camborne Science & International Academy, which is part of Athena Learning Trust, travelled to Japan to take part in the Global Super Forum, hosted by Ritsumeikan School.
Representing British Culture Abroad
The Global Super Forum brought together young people from schools around the world to explore the theme of coexistence and how communities can live together harmoniously.
As part of the event, each school delivered a cultural performance. Students from Camborne took to the stage to share elements of British culture with their international peers.
Exploring Japan’s History and Cities
Alongside the forum, the group travelled through Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima and Osaka. Their itinerary included visits to ancient temples, historic castles and well known landmarks.
One of the most powerful moments of the trip was a visit to Hiroshima’s A bomb site, described by the school as a moving experience that will stay with the students for years.
The journey ended in Osaka, where students explored the city’s night time streets and experienced its modern culture. Over the two weeks, they embraced Japanese traditions, built international friendships and created lasting memories.
A Second Year on the Global Forum
This is the second year students from Camborne have taken part in a Japanese global forum. Last year, students taught the Trevithick Day dance to peers from 16 schools across 13 countries and presented research focused on sustainable futures.
The school says opportunities like these reflect its wider ethos of offering experiences beyond the classroom, helping students grow in confidence, discover new interests and broaden their outlook.
Emma Haase, Principal of Camborne Science and International Academy, said:
“Trips like this show our students what’s possible. They come home more confident, more curious and more connected to the world around them. That’s exactly the kind of education we want to provide.”
