Appeal After Knifepoint Robbery on Marazion Cycle Path
Appeal after knifepoint robbery in daylight
Police are appealing for information after gold jewellery was stolen from a man at knifepoint in Marazion.
The incident happened around 4.40pm on Wednesday 10th December on the cycle path from Long Rock car park to Jordan’s Café.
A man in his 30s was walking along the path when he was approached by a male on a bike who asked him for the time. The suspect then pulled out a Stanley knife and demanded the victim’s mobile phone. The phone was dropped and damaged.
The suspect immediately demanded everything else the man had before grabbing his jewellery and making off in the direction of the café.
The victim was not injured but was left very shaken by what happened.
Jewellery taken
The items stolen were a chunky 4ct white gold wedding band with an inscription on the inside and a 9ct gold chain with a diamond pendant. Police have released images of both items as part of their appeal.
Suspect description
Officers are seeking a suspect who was dressed all in black, including tracksuit bottoms, a hoody and a face covering. He was riding a black mountain bike.
PC Kevin Doherty said: “This was a brazen daylight robbery and we would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen the suspect in the area to come forward.
“We are also releasing images of the stolen items in the hope that someone may have seen them or been offered them for sale. We would particularly urge owners of second hand jewellery stores or pawn shops to check for these items.
“The wedding band and chain are valuable but they also hold significant sentimental value for the victim who is desperate for their return.”
How to help
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information is asked to contact police online or by calling 101, quoting crime reference 50250316045.
