Work to improve Lemon Quay is set to begin early in the new year, with contractors starting on site on Monday 5th January 2026.
When the work starts and how long it will last
Cormac will begin the Town Deal improvement works on 5th January 2026. The programme is expected to run for around fourteen weeks.
What the works will include
The final design focuses on improving the environmental quality of the area and aims to make Lemon Quay a more attractive and welcoming space for residents, visitors and businesses.
The works will start at the Lemon Street end of the Quay and will include:
-
new street furniture
-
soft and hard landscaping
-
installation of an urban projection system for events and visual display
-
storage for the farmers market
-
cycle parking
What this means for businesses and access
Cormac has said there may be some short-term disruption while the works are carried out, but this is expected to be minimal.
Businesses will remain open as usual, with no road closures planned. Pedestrian and vehicular access will be maintained throughout the works.
