Eden Project Launches Fitness and Wellbeing Events for 2026

Published On: 1 January 2026Last Updated: 1 January 2026By

The Eden Project is starting 2026 with a packed programme of fitness and wellbeing activities, inviting people to get active in nature as it marks its 25th anniversary year.

From yoga sessions inside its iconic Biomes to weekly Park Runs and Cornwall’s biggest marathon, the focus is on helping people make a healthy start to the new year.

Yoga Among the Biomes

From January, visitors can take part in free yoga sessions inside Eden’s Mediterranean Biome. These sessions must be booked in advance via the Eden Project website.

There is also a Costa Rican inspired wellbeing weekend planned for the Rainforest Biome on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th January. The sessions are designed to offer an immersive escape, encouraging mindfulness and a stronger connection with nature. Places are free but limited, with advance booking required through edenproject.com.

Weekly Park Runs Throughout the Year

On Thursday 1st January, Eden hosts its first 5km Park Run of 2026. These runs will then continue every Saturday throughout the year.

The Park Runs offer participants the chance to enjoy Eden’s gardens, improve fitness, and take part in a supportive, community-focused activity.

Cornwall’s Biggest Marathon Returns

The Eden Marathon and Half Marathon returns on Sunday 18th October 2026. The event is described as Cornwall’s biggest running event and has become a popular fixture in the running calendar.

More than 1,200 runners signed up to this year’s race, with over 17,000 participants having taken on the challenging multi-terrain course over the years. Runners in 2026 will again pass through spectacular countryside, with entries opening in spring. The event also provides an opportunity for participants to raise money for charities of their choice.

Nature, Health and Community Support

Alongside the headline fitness events, Eden has launched its wider Nature: Connection and Recovery programme, supported by The National Lottery Community Fund.

The three-year programme builds on Eden’s long-standing work around human and planetary wellbeing and aims to reach communities most affected by climate change and health inequalities. Activities include nature recovery, food growing and art-based projects, with a focus on engaging people facing mental health challenges in climate-positive action.

Walking Groups and Year-Round Access

Eden’s estate remains open year-round as a free place to walk and forms part of a wider network of trails across Cornwall. Weekly walking groups continue every Friday, aimed at adults who would benefit from gentle activity and social connection.

The Nature Connections scheme also runs a friendly weekly one-hour walk every Friday, giving participants access to Eden’s gardens and the chance to be part of a supportive group.

Long-Running Health Work at Eden

The Eden Project has been delivering health-focused activities for local communities since 2005, when it was selected to host a weekly walk for people with COPD. Since 2016, the team has worked closely with local GPs and health practitioners through social prescribing.

Activities available through social prescribing or referral routes are free to attend, although pre-booking or pre-arrangement is required.

What Eden Says

Eden Project General Manager Simon Townsend said:
“We’re thrilled to invite people to embrace fitness in nature at Eden as we begin our 25th anniversary year. From yoga in our iconic Biomes to Cornwall’s biggest marathon, these activities reflect our mission to connect human wellbeing with the living world. Along with our Nature: Connection and Recovery programme, we’re showing that caring for ourselves and caring for the planet go hand in hand.”
