Newquay Coastguard Respond to Two Incidents on Saturday Afternoon
Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team were involved in two separate incidents within minutes of each other on Saturday 3rd January 2026, both prompting swift responses along the north Cornwall coast.
Missing Person Report at Fistral
At 2.36pm, Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team and RNLI lifeboats were tasked following reports of a casualty missing in the water at Fistral.
All assets were stood down relatively quickly after the casualty was located safe and well.
Casualty on Rocks at Boobys Bay
Just three minutes later, at 2.39pm, the Newquay team were re-tasked to assist HM Coastguard Padstow with a casualty who had fallen on rocks near Boobys Bay.
After arriving on scene, the Newquay team assisted with treatment and extrication before the casualty was handed over to South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust for further treatment.
The team added that they wish the casualty a swift recovery.
Safety Reminder
The Coastguard has reminded people that if they see someone in difficulty along the coast, they should dial 999 and ask for the Coast.
Both incidents were resolved on the same afternoon, highlighting how quickly coastal teams can be required to respond to multiple callouts.
