Rain, Wind and Frost Ahead: What Cornwall Can Expect Next

A changeable spell of weather is forecast across the South West from today, Thursday 15th January, through to Monday 19th January, with rain at times and some colder nights mixed in.

Thursday 15th January

Today will start off cloudy, but conditions are expected to turn increasingly wet and windy from the south as a band of rain moves northeast. Heavy downpours are likely at times, with strong winds possible along coastal areas. There may be some drier spells developing in the west during the afternoon. Temperatures are expected to reach a maximum of 9°C.

Tonight

Rain is forecast to clear away to the northeast during the evening, with winds easing as it does so. Clearer spells should develop overnight, although occasional showers are expected to move in from the west. There is also the chance of patchy frost forming. Overnight temperatures could fall to around 3°C.

Friday 16th January

Friday is set to start brighter, but showers are expected to continue for much of the day. These could be blustery at times, particularly in western areas. Temperatures are forecast to be close to the seasonal average, with a maximum of 10°C.

Weekend and Early Next Week

From Saturday through to Monday, the outlook remains mixed. Sunny spells and scattered showers are expected through the weekend, while fog and frost patches may form overnight where skies clear. Conditions are forecast to turn wetter and breezier from the west as Monday approaches.

The overall picture points to unsettled weather, with a bit of everything over the next few days.
