Launceston College Footballer Selected for East Cornwall Schools FA U15 Team
A talented young footballer from Launceston College, part of the Athena Learning Trust, has been selected to represent the East Cornwall Schools FA Under 15 team.
Rufus has earned his place in the regional squad after previously playing for the Plymouth Argyle Academy. He will now compete alongside the top players from secondary schools across East Cornwall.
Support through elite sport
Launceston College supports talented athletes through its Elite Sports Academies. These offer specialist coaching, strength and conditioning sessions, and competitive opportunities across football, rugby, cricket, and other sports.
Students accepted into the academies are already playing at club level, ensuring they bring both commitment and ability to their chosen sport.
The college works closely with local clubs including Launceston Rugby Club, Southgate, and Launceston Football Clubs. It also receives support from coaches connected to the Cornish Pirates and the Plymouth Argyle Community Trust, giving students access to high-level coaching and competitive environments.
Matthew Thompson, Principal at Launceston College, said:
“We couldn’t be prouder of Rufus and the commitment he shows. Our Elite Sports Academies give students the guidance and opportunities to develop their skills and compete at the highest level locally and beyond.”
