500 Trees to Be Planted in Newquay This February

A large community tree planting event is set to take place in Newquay next month, with residents invited to help create a new green space in the town.

The Big Newquay Tree Plant will see Forest for Cornwall working with the community to plant 500 trees at Trenance Park. The planting will include an orchard and is aimed at supporting local wildlife, increasing tree canopy cover, and creating a space for people to enjoy in the years ahead.

The new area will be known as Trenance Community Woodland and is being planted by volunteers from the local community.

When and where

The event takes place on Wednesday 18th February, running from 10am to 5pm, with people welcome to drop in at any time during the day. Attendees will have the chance to plant a tree themselves and watch it grow over the coming years.

Children are welcome to take part but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

How to take part

While booking is not required, organisers say registering interest will help them plan equipment and resources. More details and registration are available via Eventbrite, where people can find out more and register their interest.
