South West Set for Days of Unsettled Weather

The weather across the South West is set to remain unsettled through the weekend and into the first week of February, with showers, cloud and some brighter spells all expected.

Weather Warning for Cornwall as Rain and Flood Risk Linger

Rain and showers are set to dominate the start of February across Cornwall and the wider South West, with unsettled conditions continuing through to the middle of the week.

Sunday 1st February

It has been breezy at times today, with rain across Cornwall moving into the Channel. Another band of rain followed closely behind, spreading more widely across the region. Sunnier spells are expected to develop in the west once the rain clears.
The maximum temperature today is forecast to reach 10°C.

Tonight

Conditions are expected to turn dry this evening and overnight. Clear spells in the west may allow frost and fog to form, while low cloud further east is likely to create misty and murky conditions. These cloudier skies may also help keep temperatures slightly higher.
The minimum temperature is forecast to fall to -2°C.

Monday

Cloud and hill fog in the east should gradually lift through the day, with a limited number of brighter spells developing. Rain is expected to arrive in the west during the afternoon as winds begin to pick up.
The maximum temperature on Monday is forecast to be around 10°C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday

Low pressure is expected to remain in control for the first week of February. Further spells of rain and showers are likely, with the potential for some isolated flooding in places as unsettled conditions continue.

Tonight

Winds are set to ease, becoming a light breeze, and conditions will remain frost free. Overnight temperatures are expected to dip to around 6°C.

Sunday

A few isolated showers may linger into Sunday, but it is expected to be much drier overall compared to Saturday.

There should be some brighter spells across the region, along with lighter winds. Maximum temperatures are forecast to reach 11°C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday

Low pressure is expected to remain dominant through the first week of February.

Further spells of rain and showers are likely across the South West, with the potential for some isolated flooding in places as conditions remain unsettled.
