Oddfellows Lodge Donates Cat Food to Sue’s Cat Rescue in Redruth
Members of the Cornubian Lodge of the Oddfellows Friendly Society, based in Green Lane, Redruth, have donated essential supplies to Sue’s Cat Rescue, a local charity that rescues and rehomes cats in need.
The donation included more than £100 worth of cat food to support the rescue’s day to day work.
Supporting Cats in Need
Sue’s Cat Rescue is run by Sue Clinton, who takes in stray, abandoned and palliative cats, as well as cats that can no longer be cared for by their owners. The aim is to provide a safe place for the cats and, where possible, find them permanent homes.
The charity is facing increasing pressure due to the ongoing cost of living crisis, which has made caring for vulnerable animals more challenging.
A Focus on Local Causes
Commenting on the donation, Tina English, Provincial Grand Master of the Plymouth and Truro District Oddfellows, said:
“In addition to supporting our members, the Oddfellows Friendly Society is proud to fundraise for a variety of causes, both nationally and internationally, including cancer research and disaster relief. However, we also recognize the importance of supporting smaller, local initiatives that provide essential services within our communities. We are thrilled to offer our support to Sue’s Cat Rescue and we are proud that our lodges and friendship groups are able to make a meaningful difference to those in need.”
The Plymouth and Truro District Oddfellows forms part of one of the UK’s oldest societies, focused on friendship, support and community spirit.
