Edward Hain Centre Hosting Feast Day Coffee Morning in St Ives
As St Ives prepares for its annual Feast Day celebrations, a well known community event is set to return.
The Edward Hain Centre will be holding its Feast Day Coffee Morning at the Western Hotel on Monday 9th February, running from 10am to 12.30pm.
A long standing Feast Day tradition
The coffee morning is one of the Edward Hain Centre’s most established annual gatherings and forms part of the wider Feast Day celebrations in St Ives.
Speaking about the event, Nadine Tonner, the Centre’s new Community Hub Officer and Business Support, and lead organiser of the event, said:
“This special morning has become a firm part of Feast Day celebrations: an opportunity for local residents, supporters, and friends to come together. We are so grateful to the Western for so generously hosting again.”
Celebrating St Ives and its history
Feast Day marks the founding of St Ives by St Ia, believed to have been a 5th or 6th century Irish princess and evangelist. It has long been a time for the town to come together and celebrate its shared heritage.
The Edward Hain Centre coffee morning has grown over the years into a busy and welcoming event, with conversation, homemade baked treats donated by community members, and a strong sense of local support.
Kit Hain Grindstaff, a trustee at the Centre who has been helping to source cakes, buns and biscuits for this year’s event, said:
“The St Ives community never ceases to blow me away with their goodwill and support of the Centre. They are the best.”
What the Coffee Morning supports
According to Nadine, the aims of the Feast Day Coffee Morning are simple and purposeful. The event is designed to bring people together to celebrate Feast Day over coffee, cakes, raffles and conversation, raise awareness of the Edward Hain Centre’s health, wellbeing and community work, and generate funds to support its growing services in St Ives.
The coffee morning is open to everyone, whether long time residents or those new to the town, with all welcome to head along to the Western Hotel and take part in the celebrations.
