Thunder, Heavy Rain and Wind Ahead for South West This Week
People across the South West of England are being advised to brace for a run of unsettled weather, with further heavy showers, strong winds and a chance of thunder over the coming days.
Saturday 7th February
Saturday is starting unsettled, with blustery and heavy showers feeding in from the south through much of the day. Some of these showers could be thundery. Conditions are expected to improve later as the showers clear northeastwards, allowing brighter and drier spells to develop.
It will remain windy, particularly along the southern coast, with mild temperatures reaching a maximum of 11°C.
Tonight
Showers are expected to ease during the evening, leading to a drier night with clear spells. Under lighter winds and clearer skies, mist and fog patches may develop overnight. Temperatures are forecast to fall to a minimum of 3°C.
Sunday 8th February
Any mist and fog should clear quickly on Sunday morning before showers move in again. These showers may be heavy at times but are expected to be less frequent and widespread than in recent days. Winds will be lighter than on Saturday, with temperatures once again reaching around 11°C.
Outlook for Monday to Wednesday
From Monday onwards, conditions are set to turn unsettled again from the west. Further bands of heavy rain or heavy showers are expected, with a continued chance of thunder. It will be breezy at times, with temperatures remaining similar to those seen over the weekend.
The forecast covers the South West of England and remains in place through to Wednesday 11th February.
