Residents across Devon and Cornwall are being urged to prepare for a colder end to the week, with hill snow and icy stretches possible from Friday evening.

The latest forecast for South West England, covering Thursday 12th February to Monday 16th February, points to a mix of rain, showers and a noticeable drop in temperatures as the week goes on.

Grey Start Before Showers

Thursday 12th February has begun rather grey, with outbreaks of rain across the region. Brighter conditions are expected to develop from the west through the morning, followed by a few showers moving across Devon and Cornwall.

Temperatures are set to remain around average for the time of year, with a maximum of 11°C.

Cloud and Rain Overnight

Further showers are likely in the west during Thursday evening. Overnight, it will turn increasingly cloudy, with showery outbreaks of rain becoming more extensive towards dawn.

Minimum temperatures are expected to dip to 3°C.

Rain Turning to Snow on Friday

On Friday 13th February, outbreaks of rain are forecast to push south during the day. During the evening, the rain is expected to turn to snow over the hills and moors.

As temperatures fall, a widespread frost is likely to develop overnight, bringing the risk of some icy stretches. Daytime highs are forecast to reach 10°C.

Weekend Outlook

Saturday is expected to be drier and brighter following a frosty start.

On Sunday, the risk of rain and hill snow returns as temperatures begin to recover.

Monday looks unsettled, with a mixture of sunny spells and showers expected across the region.

With frost and possible icy conditions on the way, drivers and those heading out early on Friday night into Saturday morning may want to take extra care.
