Newquay Town Council Pays Tribute to Kevin Towill

Newquay Town Council has said it is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Kevin Towill, Cornwall Councillor for Newquay Porth and Tretherras, following a period of illness.

Kevin served the town with what the council described as great commitment during his time as a Town Councillor and as a former Mayor of Newquay. He later continued that work as a Cornwall Councillor, representing and supporting the community until his passing.

In a statement, Newquay Town Council said Kevin was widely respected for his passion for Newquay and his longstanding devotion to public service.

Years of Service to Newquay

During his time in local government, Kevin held roles both at town and county level. As a Town Councillor and past Mayor, he was involved in public life in Newquay, before going on to represent Newquay Porth and Tretherras on Cornwall Council.

The council said his dedication to the community continued throughout his time as a Cornwall Councillor.

Tributes from Colleagues

On behalf of Newquay Town Council, the Mayor, Councillors, Town Clerk and staff have extended their sincere condolences to Kevin’s family, friends and colleagues.

“Kevin gave many years of dedicated service to Newquay, both as a Town Councillor and as a past Mayor. He continued to serve our community as a fellow colleague on Cornwall Council with commitment and care. He will be remembered for his contribution to public life and his passion for the town. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones at this sad time.”
