Cornwall Community Media Network Opens Applications for Digital Skills Programme
The Cornwall Community Media Network is inviting applications for its fourth annual Digital Skills Bootcamp, offering people across Cornwall the chance to step into the world of community radio.
The programme provides a comprehensive introduction to all aspects of community broadcasting, including presenting, production, technical support, content creation and wider support roles.
Meet and Greet at BBC Radio Cornwall
As part of the process, members of the public are invited to attend a meet and greet event at BBC Radio Cornwall. The sessions will give people the opportunity to learn more about the programme, hear about future volunteering opportunities and take part in a special tour of the BBC Radio Cornwall studios.
The hour long sessions will take place on:
-
Sunday 15th February at 10.00am
-
Wednesday 18th February at 6.00pm
-
Wednesday 18th February at 7.00pm
Those interested are asked to book onto just one session to ensure there is space for others to attend.
Successful applicants will then move on to a four week training programme led by industry experts, focusing on digital media and community broadcasting.
Building Confidence and Skills
The Digital Skills Bootcamp was created to reignite community engagement in local radio and encourage listeners to consider becoming volunteer presenters.
In previous years, the programme has led to several success stories, with participants progressing into a range of roles across their local stations.
Nathan Hunkin, Director of Digital and Communications at The CHAOS Group, said:
“Our Digital Skills Bootcamp has become a gateway for people who’ve always been curious about radio but never knew where to start. We’re seeing participants grow in confidence, learn industry-ready skills and go on to make a genuine impact in their local stations. It’s all about giving people the tools they need and strengthening community radio across Cornwall.”
